U.S. consumer spending rose 0.9% in August, real income flat
Personal income increased 0.2% month over month, while real disposable personal income grew 0.0% after inflation, taxes and transfers.
U.S. consumer spending regained momentum in August, rising 0.9% month over month, according to Action Forex.
The report said personal income advanced by 0.2% in August, coming in below market expectations for a 0.5% gain.
After adjusting for inflation, taxes and transfers, real disposable personal income was flat.
Action Forex also attributed part of the spending pickup to higher prices, especially for gas.
