China quant funds launch 18 products managing over 10 billion yuan each
The sector’s new funds are emerging despite “tight regulatory scrutiny,” with Wind data showing 159 Chinese hedge funds at more than 10 billion yuan in assets each.
China’s quantitative investing sector has added 18 funds so far this year, with each managing more than 10 billion yuan (US$1.5 billion), according to Wind data cited by SCMP Economy.
The outlet said the figures highlight the industry’s ability to generate competitive returns even under tight regulatory scrutiny, with the firms among 159 Chinese hedge funds that each oversee more than 10 billion yuan in assets.
SCMP Economy also noted new entrants including AXQ Capital, Hopeseek Fund and Huanian Fund.
Christopher Beddor, deputy China research director at Gavekal Dragonomics, said many quant funds are doing exceptionally well.
