Ethereum’s zkAPI goes live on mainnet for private prepaid API payments

The Ethereum Foundation said users deposit funds into an Ethereum vault and use zero-knowledge proofs to pay for API requests without exposing which deposits fund their billing.

Ethereum’s zkAPI has launched on Ethereum mainnet, converting an earlier zero-knowledge API payments proposal into a live system for private, prepaid access, according to Cointelegraph.

The Ethereum Foundation said the zkAPI system, built with the Open Anonymity Project, lets users pay for AI and other API services without revealing their billing identities.

Cointelegraph reports that users deposit funds into an Ethereum vault and then use zero-knowledge proofs to show they have enough credit to make API payments without disclosing which deposits are theirs.
