Otay Ranch tops San Diego’s hottest neighborhoods list for 2026
The ranking is based on year-over-year growth in Redfin listing views and the Redfin Compete Score, which reflects how difficult it is to win a home.
Otay Ranch was named San Diego’s hottest neighborhood for 2026, according to a Redfin analysis that ranked zip codes across the San Diego metro by year-over-year growth in listing views on Redfin.com and the Redfin Compete Score. San Pasqual Valley and Hillcrest followed as the next two hottest neighborhoods.
Redfin said the top five neighborhoods stretch from the South Bay to North County, combining areas near downtown with communities farther inland. The analysis also highlighted that Hillcrest is a more urban option closer to central San Diego.
In comments included with the report, Redfin’s San Diego senior market manager said the neighborhoods share the benefit of living in sunny San Diego, with some offering homes that can be more affordable than the rest of the area.
The report also described San Diego as a buyer’s market, noting that sellers outnumber buyers by 36%, while adding that home prices remain high and are climbing in parts of the metro.
