Reddit plans to end RSS feeds and public API access

Reddit says RSS will stop on November 13, and public API access will close in March 2027 as the company targets scraping bots and automated abuse.

Reddit is shutting down two main ways outsiders pull data from the site, with RSS feeds ending on November 13 and public access to its API closing in March 2027, according to Decrypt.

The company said it is taking the steps as part of efforts to modernize its infrastructure and make it harder for what it calls bad actors to scrape content and abuse communities.

Reddit stated that the stated reason for the changes is scraping, along with what it calls automated abuse. New requests for public API access end October 31, apps and users that have not registered or responded to outreach begin losing access on January 12, 2027, and remaining access is cut off in March.

Reddit also urged developers to rebuild using its Developer Platform, Devvit, the Decrypt report said.
