UK airlines would be required to seat children with parents for free
The plan also would remove the fee for changing a passenger name on flight bookings, with ministers aiming to act before next year’s summer holidays.
UK government plans would block UK airlines from charging parents extra to sit with children on flights, requiring airlines to seat passengers under 14 next to their parents or an accompanying adult free of charge, according to the Guardian Business.
The government also plans to end fees passengers face to tweak the name on their flight booking when correcting a mistake, the Guardian Business reports.
Ministers are understood to be working to introduce the changes before the start of next year’s summer holidays, as MPs debate a new set of rules for travel companies.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the changes are part of a crackdown on smaller add-on charges that build up when families plan their holidays, according to the outlet.
