Malaysia draws more Chinese buyers looking for Singapore-like stability
Juwai IQI data shows Malaysia ranked fourth for Chinese property inquiries in the first half of 2026, up from seventh in 2024 and sixth in 2025.
Malaysia is attracting Hong Kong and mainland Chinese buyers seeking a stable property market, with analysts comparing its appeal to Singapore but with price points seen as similar to Thailand, according to SCMP Economy.
The report cites Juwai IQI data indicating Malaysia was the fourth-highest destination for inquiries from Chinese buyers in the first half of 2026. It also notes Malaysia’s rank improved to fourth, compared with seventh in 2024 and sixth in 2025.
Juwai IQI co-founder and group CEO Kashif Ansari said Malaysia is popular for these buyers as a lifestyle, education, retirement, or residency-linked investment. Kingston Lai, founder and CEO of Hong Kong-headquartered Asia Bankers Club, said demand is supported by lifestyle preferences and improvements in the Malaysian economy.
Juwai IQI, the property portal cited in the article, has 7 million listings across 111 countries.
