Nvidia shares rise after $1 trillion market value wipeout

The stock briefly hit an intraday record of $237.88 and Nvidia’s market value is about $5.6 trillion, putting it under $400 billion from $6 trillion.

Nvidia shares rebounded after a two-month sell-off that erased more than $1 trillion from the company’s market capitalization, with the stock gaining ground on Friday.

According to LiveMint Markets, Nvidia shares rose as much as 3% during the session, briefly reaching an intraday record high of $237.88 per share on the Nasdaq, before paring gains to close 1.3% higher at $233.95.

The rally lifted Nvidia shares about 23% from their late-July low, when concerns about the AI outlook weighed on the stock, and it brought the shares close to their prior record set in May.

LiveMint Markets said the renewed momentum follows a shift in investor sentiment around the AI trade, with attention moving to doubts about the scale of spending on AI infrastructure and the stock now valued at roughly $5.6 trillion, less than $400 billion away from the $6 trillion mark.
