PewDiePie says OpenAI suspended his account twice while training Ajax AI
The model, Ajax, is described as a small, self-hosted system intended to run locally inside PewDiePie’s Odysseus app without a subscription fee, with releases planned once he deems it ready.
YouTuber PewDiePie says OpenAI banned his account twice while he was building Ajax, a small AI model intended to run on a user’s own computer and help with web browsing. Decrypt reports that he recounts the episode in a new video on his YouTube channel.
According to Decrypt, Ajax is meant to work inside PewDiePie’s Odysseus, a free, self-hosted AI app launched in June, with the idea that emails and calendar data stay on local hardware instead of being handled on a company’s servers. The outlet also says Ajax is pending release and would be made available on his website once he believes it is ready.
Decrypt reports that PewDiePie frames Ajax as a fine-tuned model trained for a specific job, describing it as built from Alibaba’s open-source Qwen 3.5. The story says he aimed to distill from GPT-5.6 Sol, the flagship model OpenAI released on July 9, and that distillation involves training a smaller AI on a bigger model’s answers, with a focus on Sol’s reasoning token.
