Japan and Australia set annual finance ministers dialogue
The memorandum takes effect for five years and targets cooperation on financial and economic policy plus economic security.
Japan and Australia have agreed to create an annual finance ministers dialogue to deepen cooperation on financial and economic policy and strengthen bilateral collaboration on economic security, according to Reuters. The arrangement was set out in a memorandum of understanding signed on Monday that will be in effect for five years, with regular meetings between the two countries’ finance ministers. Japan’s finance chief Satsuki Katayama said the dialogue will support stable economic growth in the Indo-Pacific region and globally.
Japan’s finance ministry said the two countries’ economic and security futures are closely connected, and the dialogue is intended to enhance cooperation on economic security matters.
