OKXICE plans 24/7 trading of tokenized U.S. stocks under SEC exemption

The SEC notice dated October 4 lists more than 60 tokenized stocks, including Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, and SpaceX, paired with USDC, USDG, or Tether’s USDT.

OKXICE, the joint venture between crypto exchange OKX and New York Stock Exchange owner Intercontinental Exchange, has notified the SEC that it plans to launch a round-the-clock trading venue for tokenized U.S. stocks, according to Decrypt. Co-chair Andrew Cuomo said the venue will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, citing a notice dated October 4.

The filing says the venue will operate under the SEC’s Innovation Exemption, which has allowed qualifying platforms to trade tokenized stocks without registering as exchanges since September 17. Under the framework, the SEC does not approve venues individually, and a firm that meets the exemption conditions can notify the agency and then operate subject to those requirements.

The notice lists more than 60 stocks, including Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, and SpaceX, alongside crypto-linked firms such as Coinbase, Circle, Strategy, Robinhood, BitGo, and Securitize, Decrypt reported. Each tokenized stock will trade in a pair with one of three stablecoins, USDC, USDG, or Tether’s USDT.

In June, an OKX spokesperson told Fortune that the venture would focus on tokenizing NYSE-listed equities, according to Decrypt. The article also notes that chipmaker Cerebras Systems has already lodged a notice of issuer obje.
