Sam Altman argues for accepting harms in exchange for AI benefits
OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman said there is “a lot of daylight” between his approach to AI safety rules and those of rival firms, and called for a regulatory light touch.
In an interview released on Monday, Altman said the world should accept “bad things” happening with AI in return for the technology’s benefits, citing hacks, scams, and other harms that he said will happen.
The comments followed the resignation of one of OpenAI’s safety experts, who said over the weekend that its “culture is broken,” according to the report.
