Top-tier 30-year fixed mortgage rate edges up to 7.61%
Mortgage News Daily said the average top-tier 30-year fixed rate rose 0.01 percentage point from last week’s high, continuing a choppy backdrop tied to bond market moves.
Mortgage News Daily reported that the average top-tier 30-year fixed mortgage rate finished at 7.61%, up 0.01% from last week’s high of 7.60%.
The outlet said bonds lost ground on the day, and it did not point to any major new catalyst for the rate movement.
It also noted that there were no new, obvious “scapegoats” driving the change, while adding that the bond market may be somewhat anxious ahead of this week’s scheduled Treasury auctions.
