UCITS cat bond funds average 6.67% return year to Sept. 25

The Plenum CAT Bond UCITS Fund Indices put the average return at 1.23% over the Aug. 28 to Sept. 25 window, despite softer reinsurance pricing.

Catastrophe bond funds structured as UCITS investment strategies are averaging a 6.67% return for the year to Sept. 25, 2026, placing the period among the top results in the Plenum CAT Bond UCITS Fund Indices history, according to Artemis.

Plenum Investment said the 6.67% figure represents the fourth best year on record for UCITS cat bond funds, with the latest index data covering Aug. 28 through Sept. 25.

Artemis reported that the average return over that most recent window was 1.23%, based on Friday secondary cat bond marks.

The outlet also noted that cat bond returns have come off recent historical highs even as the funds continue to post relatively attractive performance, a dynamic it attributed to softened reinsurance pricing.
