Zcash cuts block time to 25 seconds on public testnet

The upgrade named NU7 is moving up the testnet timeline as a rehearsal for a planned November mainnet launch.

CoinDesk reports that Zcash has started running its NU7 upgrade on a public testnet with block times reduced to 25 seconds.

The project cut the target block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, giving exchanges, wallets, and developers a live rehearsal environment.

CoinDesk adds that the Zcash testnet release went live ahead of schedule, ahead of a planned November mainnet launch.
