Zcash NU7 goes live on testnet, targeting November mainnet activation

The NU7 testnet switch allows developers to evaluate a planned shift to 25-second block times, with the activation point mined on Oct. 4 at 18:21:45 UTC.

Zcash has activated its NU7 upgrade on the testnet, moving the protocol changes into live testing ahead of a planned November mainnet rollout, according to Cointelegraph.

Cointelegraph reports that Zcash confirmed NU7 was live on testnet via a post on X, and that ZecBlock showed the NU7 activation point, block 4,465,026, was mined on Oct. 4 at 18:21:45 UTC.

The NU7 upgrade is intended to reduce Zcash’s target block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, and Cointelegraph says it also includes other protocol changes, including disabling version 4 transactions.
