BoJ Governor Ueda says Japan economy recovering moderately

Ueda said the price trend is approaching 2% and that the BoJ will decide future policy adjustments based on how risks and baseline forecasts evolve.

Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said Japan’s economy is recovering moderately, though with some weaknesses, according to FXStreet.

Ueda added that the price trend is approaching 2%, and he noted that Japan’s September Tankan showed business sentiment in good shape.

He said underlying inflation is nearing 2% and that financial conditions remain accommodative, even after the September rate hike.

Ueda also indicated the BoJ will continue raising the policy rate in line with economic and price developments, emphasizing the need to anchor underlying inflation around 2%.
