Guangzhou station sets national record with over 1 million trips on Oct. 1
The provincial government said trains departed about every 40 seconds at peak demand on Oct. 1.
China’s Guangzhou South Railway Station handled a national-record level of rail travel, with just over 1 million trips on October 1 during the seven-day holiday period, according to the provincial government cited by SCMP Economy.
The outlet reported that the station ran 1,252 train services on the day and highlighted the departure pace, with trains leaving about every 40 seconds at peak periods.
A publicity department statement said the interval was faster than people could scroll through short videos, SCMP Economy reported.
