Global indexes mixed as five of nine track higher year-to-date
Japan’s Nikkei 225 is up 39% year-to-date, while India’s BSE Sensex is down 15%.
ETF Trends published its World Markets Watchlist for October 5, 2026, tracking nine major indexes across the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, China, Hong Kong, and India.
Through October 5, 2026, the outlet said five of the nine indexes remained in positive territory, led by Japan’s Nikkei 225 with a 39% year-to-date gain, followed by the S&P 500 at 13.6% and Canada’s TSX at 12.0%.
On the other side, India’s BSE Sensex has struggled the most, down 15% for the year, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is down 6.2% year-to-date.
ETF Trends also noted that the watchlist includes information on each index’s current level versus its all-time peak and the date that peak occurred.
