India’s SIP inflows hit record in August despite equity pullback

SIP contributions reached a record ₹32,297 crore in August 2026, but the AMFI-linked data and Jio BlackRock’s CEO point to monthly stoppages and cancellations beneath headline growth.

India’s domestic systematic investment plan, or SIP, inflows stayed resilient even as Indian benchmark equity indices saw a 10% correction over the past two years, LiveMint Markets reported. The outlet cited data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India, AMFI, to show that steady domestic buying has helped support market resilience while foreign investors have remained cautious.

SIP contributions hit a record ₹32,297 crore in August 2026, the highest monthly inflow ever, according to AMFI data highlighted by LiveMint Markets. Sid Swaminathan, managing director and chief executive of Jio BlackRock Asset Management Pvt. Ltd, said the continued stream of domestic money is supporting the market despite weaker equity returns.

However, Swaminathan said the headline SIP figures mask churn in participation, with significant stoppages and cancellations occurring every month even as net SIP flows continue to grow, LiveMint Markets reported. He added that the investors who have stopped their SIPs are a key concern as SIP resilience faces what he called its toughest test.
