AUD/USD slips after failing to regain 0.7000

AUD/USD fell to about 0.6964 as the US Dollar Index edged up near 102.25 and US bond yields rose.

The Australian dollar edged down against the US dollar after giving back early gains and struggling to move back above 0.7000, with AUD/USD slipping to around 0.6964 during the European trading session, FXStreet said.

FXStreet attributed the pressure on the Aussie to a firmer US dollar, linked to surging US bond yields.

At the time of writing, FXStreet reported the US Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback against six major currencies, was up about 0.15% near 102.25 and remained close to its annual high of 102.54 from Monday.
