NHS supply drivers plan strikes over a 4% pay offer
The walkouts are scheduled for multiple dates from October 13-15 through November 10-12, with GXO and NHS Supply Chain citing contingency plans to limit disruption.
Drivers employed by GXO, delivering medical supplies to hospitals across England, have voted to reject a 4% pay increase and will stage strikes, Unite said.
The union announced five sets of walkouts between October 13-15, October 20-22, October 27-29, November 3-5, and November 10-12. The drivers operate depots in locations including Derbyshire, Somerset, West Yorkshire, Kent, Warwickshire, and Suffolk.
Unite said the industrial action could still be avoided with a deal members would accept, while GXO said it believes the 4% offer is fair.
NHS Supply Chain and GXO said they have robust contingency plans in place to minimize disruption, even as they acknowledged Unite members had voted in favor of industrial action.
