NZD/USD hovers near 0.5600 as USD stays bullish
The New Zealand dollar edged higher after NZIER said business confidence jumped in the third quarter of 2026.
The New Zealand dollar traded around the 0.5600 level against the US dollar during the Asian session, staying just above its lowest point since November 2025, according to FXStreet.
FXStreet also cited a small NZD boost after a New Zealand Institute of Economic Research survey showed business confidence rose in the third quarter of 2026, while market pricing for a Reserve Bank of New Zealand Official Cash Rate increase on October 28 provided additional support.
Despite that, the pair’s upside was limited by a firm US dollar, which FXStreet linked to safe haven demand amid geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.
FXStreet pointed to reports of Houthi operations involving missiles and drones targeting sites in Saudi Arabia, and said France’s fiscal shock extended a rout in fixed income markets, keeping US bond yields near multi-year highs.
