BoJ keeps unchanged Sakura report assessment for 7 of 9 regions

In its latest Regional Economic Report, the BoJ cited firms passing through higher costs tied to the Middle East conflict and a weak yen, while noting resilient consumption despite bad weather.

The Bank of Japan kept its Sakura report, the regional economic assessment, unchanged for 7 of Japan's 9 regions, according to FXStreet.

The report said many regions saw firms pass on rising costs linked to the Middle East conflict and the weak Japanese yen, alongside distribution and labor costs. It also noted that firms in some areas were offering high wages, while others that struggled to pass on costs could curb wage increases.

FXStreet also highlights that some regions reported firms raising prices more frequently than in the past, alongside increased output supported by robust global AI-related demand. The BoJ also said corporate investment appetite remained strong, and consumption stayed resilient even with bad weather.
