ECB policymakers see upside risks to the inflation outlook
ECB meeting accounts released for September showed all Governing Council members viewed inflation risks as skewed higher.
FXStreet, citing Reuters, said the accounts of the European Central Bank's September policy meeting showed all members agreed the risks around the inflation outlook were to the upside.
The ECB accounts emphasized that the central bank’s primary mandate is to maintain price stability, meaning keeping inflation around 2%, and that monetary policy decisions are made by the ECB Governing Council at eight meetings each year.
The ECB sets interest rates to steer inflation, and it can also use extreme measures like quantitative easing, which typically involves buying assets financed by creating euros, a move that usually weakens the euro.
