Martin Group becomes one of UK’s biggest car park operators after NCP deal

The NCP business, which collapsed in March 2026, transferred most of its assets to Martin Group, including NCP’s 145 car park sites and staff.

BBC Business reports that a Londonderry company, the Martin Group, has become one of the UK’s biggest car park operators after buying NCP out of administration.

According to BBC Business, NCP collapsed in March 2026 after declining performance left it unable to pay its debts, and administrators at PwC said the majority of NCP’s 145 sites would transfer to the Martin Group along with the staff who work there.

BBC Business also reports that PwC’s joint administrator Zelf Hussain said the deal protected hundreds of jobs and aimed to deliver the best outcome for creditors, while adding that keeping NCP’s car parks open helps keep Britain’s town and city centres moving.

BBC Business further notes that NCP’s problems included long term lease commitments and a buildup of debt, and that the Martin Group already holds major commercial property assets and has expanded its hotels business, including The Bedford Hotel in Belfast and The Waterfoot in Derry.
