Flavio Bolsonaro says he will work with the US and China

A Datafolha poll showed Bolsonaro leading Lula in the October 25 run-off, 52.0% to 48.0%.

Flavio Bolsonaro said he would work with both the United States and China if he becomes Brazil’s president, adding that he would not pick sides in international relations.

According to SCMP, Bolsonaro said his focus would be on the Brazilian people, after a surprise first-round result positioned him to potentially join a broader shift among conservative leaders in Latin America toward Washington.

Bolsonaro finished Sunday’s first-round election about two percentage points ahead of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, a result that helped spark a surge in Brazilian assets as investors viewed him as more likely to pursue market-friendly financial policies.

A Datafolha poll released Thursday evening showed Bolsonaro leading the October 25 run-off with 52.0% of valid votes to Lula’s 48.0%, excluding blank and invalid ballots, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.0 percentage points.
