Borel Capital launches systematic trading firm and hires 10 interns

The firm plans to fund trading models built by candidates, using backtesting and potentially paper trading, before offering capital allocations and performance-linked pay.

Hedgeweek reports that Adrien Chicot, a former quantitative researcher at Andurand Capital Management, has launched systematic trading firm Borel Capital and is recruiting 10 quantitative research interns. The hiring push is designed to support the development of systematic investment strategies across multiple asset classes.

According to the report, each intern will be given six months to build a strategy in an asset class of their choice. Borel Capital will evaluate submissions through backtesting, and may follow that with paper trading and additional testing against previously unseen data.

The outlet says that interns whose models meet the firm’s requirements will be offered permanent roles, along with capital allocations tied to their strategies. Chicot also described the approach as giving junior researchers a direct share of profit and loss once a strategy is deployed, rather than requiring them to progress through a traditional track at the firm.
