TCI Fund Management logs record $18.9bn profit for 2025 investors

The fund’s 2025 performance also came alongside a record $1.45bn in new commitments from CIFF, tied to Chris Hohn’s child health philanthropy.

Chris Hohn’s TCI Fund Management generated a record $18.9bn for investors in 2025, according to Hedgeweek, citing a report by Billionaires Africa. The outlet said the hedge fund’s gain was the largest single-year rise recorded by any hedge fund, as measured by LCH Investments.

Hedgeweek linked the results to continued support for child health and development programmes across Africa through the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). The fund’s strong performance coincided with a record $1.45bn in new commitments from CIFF.

Hedgeweek also noted Hohn donated £1.44bn during the period covered by the latest Sunday Times Giving List.

The outlet added that TCI’s charitable model began at the fund’s 2003 launch, when Hohn incorporated annual foundation contributions into the fund’s fee structure, including 0.5% of assets under management each year and an additional 0.5% payable if annual returns exceeded 11%.
