Near North Side tops Redfin ranking for Chicago homes along Red Line

Redfin based the 2026 ranking on year-over-year growth in Redfin.com listing views and its Redfin Compete Score for neighborhoods served by the CTA’s Red Line, using June to August 2026 data versus the same period in 2025.

Redfin says Near North Side is the hottest neighborhood along Chicago’s Red Line in 2026, edging out Uptown and Near South Side, based on its latest ranking of areas served by the route.

The analysis uses year-over-year growth in listing views on Redfin.com, along with Redfin Compete Score, a measure of how difficult it is to win a bidding war, to gauge where buyers are driving the most competition.

Redfin rounded out the top five with Washington Heights and Rogers Park.

As part of its Redfin Early Access marketing campaign, Redfin also wrapped select train cars on the Red Line with designs that mimic real homes, highlighting early access to Chicago listings homebuyers cannot yet find on other websites, according to Redfin News.
