Reinsurance News roundtable highlights intense competition and rising demand
The discussion at the RVS meeting, in September, covered January renewals and pressures in US casualty reinsurance tied to social inflation and litigation financing.
Reinsurance News hosted its fourth Monte Carlo Executive Roundtable at the 68th edition of the annual RVS meeting in September, bringing together eight leaders from across the reinsurance and insurance industry to discuss developments shaping the sector.
According to Reinsurance News, participants pointed to intense competition alongside record levels of capacity, while also citing growing demand driven by climate change, geopolitical risks, and technology.
The roundtable also focused on what is being debated as January renewals approach, including pricing, terms and conditions, and structures, as well as what cedents increasingly expect from their reinsurance partners.
In addition, the session examined the outlook for the casualty reinsurance market heading into next year, referencing ongoing pressures in the US from social inflation and litigation financing, and debating what scale of loss event could potentially change the market trajectory.
