UK travelers warned against paid ETIAS waiver services amid delays
The EU plans to charge a 20 euro fee for the electronic ETIAS waiver, even as the program and the related entry exit system have been repeatedly postponed.
Britons and other non EU travelers have been warned not to apply for a delayed ETIAS visa waiver through paid third party websites, as the travel authorization service has yet to launch.
According to advice from ABTA, more than 150 websites are advertising assistance with securing entry to the Schengen zone despite ETIAS introduction being pushed back, while travelers from visa exempt countries including the US, Australia, and Canada are also affected.
The planned ETIAS entry authorization would require a 20 euro fee, the same guidance notes, but its rollout is being delayed and coincides with repeated postponements of the EU entry exit system, the EES.
The Guardian Business reports that while the system was scheduled to come into effect soon after the EES rollout, both programs have been postponed and have faced persistent implementation problems.
