Bitcoin slips near $62,000 as traders cut risk ahead of Fed minutes

Bitcoin is down nearly 2% over 24 hours, while US risk sentiment weakens alongside a roughly 5% oil move and a sharp selloff in semiconductors and AI stocks, Cointelegraph reported.

Bitcoin hovered around the $62,000 level after moving lower as traders adopted a more cautious stance ahead of the Federal Reserve’s minutes from its June meeting, according to Cointelegraph.

The outlet linked the risk-off mood to pressure spilling beyond crypto, including a sharp selloff in semiconductor and AI stocks. It cited renewed profit-taking from Samsung that weighed on Asian markets, and military escalation between the US and Iran that pushed oil up about 5%.

Cointelegraph also said markets have priced roughly a 73% chance the Fed holds rates steady at its next meeting on July 29, with the minutes’ tone expected to shape expectations for inflation and interest rates.

On positioning, the article noted that Bitcoin’s cumulative volume delta turned from net buying earlier in the week to renewed selling by Wednesday. Cointelegraph reported futures selling accelerated to nearly $500 million and spot selling added about $86 million, with long liquidations totaling roughly $47 million versus about $4 million on the short side.
