CN sets monthly grain transport record in June

CN moved 2.67 million tonnes from Western Canada, topping its previous June record of 2.64 million tonnes from 2020 despite heavy rainfall.

Canadian National Railway Co. set a new monthly record for grain movement across its network in June, transporting 2.67 million tonnes of grain from Western Canada.

World Grain reports CN beat the previous June record of 2.64 million tonnes set in June 2020.

The company attributed the result to operational adjustments during heavy rainfall that affected parts of Western Canada, saying it worked with customers to revise shipping plans and keep grain flowing to export markets.

World Grain also noted CN has posted grain movement records in nine of the 10 months of the current crop year, while grain storage and handling companies are focusing on efficiency improvements alongside capacity.

The article further highlights equipment related projects, including a Grain Elevator and Processing Society board visit to Ag Growth International in Sioux Falls on June 16, where AGI conveyor and bucket elevator products are manufactured at an 187,000-square-foot facility.
