CPKC hits monthly and quarterly records hauling Canadian grain
The railway moved 2.8 million tonnes of Canadian grain last month, and 2.5 million tonnes in the US, setting June monthly tonnage records on both sides of the border.
Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) reported record grain traffic, moving 2.8 million tonnes of Canadian grain and grain products in June. The company said the result beat its previous June monthly tonnage record set in June 2020.
CPKC also set a second-quarter record for tonnage and carloads, surpassing prior highs established in June 2020. It added that it has set records for Canadian grain movement in each of the first six months of the year, and that through Week 48 of the 2025-26 crop year it transported more than 28.4 million tonnes of Canadian grain and grain products, the largest totals since the 2020-21 crop year.
In the United States, CPKC set a June monthly tonnage record as well, moving 2.5 million tonnes and topping the previous best from 2022. It said a record 7.5 million tonnes were transported in the second quarter, exceeding the second quarter of 2022.
World Grain also highlighted related grain storage and handling priorities, noting that equipment suppliers are looking beyond larger bins toward efficiency. The outlet pointed to a June 16 tour of Ag Growth International in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, featuring the AGI Hi Roller and AGI Tramco conveyors and an AGI bucket elevator manufactured at a 187,000-square-foot facility.
