Mantle begins migrating $2.5 billion Super Portal from LayerZero to CCIP

The move, scheduled July 9 to 15, is designed to tighten security and control settings while expanding where the MNT token can be transferred.

Mantle has started migrating its $2.5 billion Super Portal from LayerZero to Chainlink’s CCIP token standards, CoinDesk reported. The project said the change from LayerZero’s OFT standard to Chainlink’s CCT standard aims to enhance security and the control over token transfer settings.

CoinDesk said Mantle’s migration runs from July 9 to the 15, and will enable expansion of MNT token transfers across additional blockchain networks. The Super Portal supports transfers of MNT between Ethereum and Solana, with other networks planned, and Mantle said oracle-based security will be used as part of the process.

The update adds to a broader shift away from LayerZero-powered bridges, CoinDesk noted. More than $7.2 billion in cross-chain and wrapped assets have moved from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP since May, bringing the total value of announced LayerZero to CCIP migrations above $7.24 billion.

CoinDesk connected the migration wave to heightened scrutiny after a $292 million Kelp bridge exploit earlier in the year. Since then, Kelp migrated more than $1.5 billion in assets to Chainlink CCIP, and other projects including Solv Protocol, Re, and Kraken have also transferred tokenized assets as the industry reduces exposure to bridge risks.
