SpaceX’s Nasdaq-100 entry is set to drive $4.3B in passive Bitcoin exposure

SpaceX disclosed 18,712 BTC on its balance sheet, and JPMorgan estimates Nasdaq-100 index rebalancing will funnel about $4.3 billion from tracking funds into the stock.

SpaceX’s formal addition to the Nasdaq-100 on July 7, 2026 is expected to create a rules-based channel for Bitcoin exposure via corporate equity holdings, according to Bitcoin Magazine. The move comes after the company disclosed it holds 18,712 BTC on its balance sheet.

JPMorgan estimates the index rebalancing tied to SpaceX’s inclusion will trigger about $4.3 billion in passive inflows from Nasdaq-100-tracking funds and ETFs. Because index funds and ETFs must hold securities in line with index weightings, they buy shares mechanically when a new component is added.

The article says SpaceX’s Bitcoin holdings, disclosed in regulatory filings at approximately $1.2 billion in fair value, will now sit within one of the most widely followed equity indices globally. Bitcoin Magazine characterizes this exposure as different from direct Bitcoin ETF flows or voluntary corporate purchases, since it is driven by index rules rather than active allocation decisions.

Bitcoin Magazine also notes that, following the addition, the Nasdaq-100 now includes three companies with material Bitcoin treasuries, pointing to Tesla and Strategy alongside SpaceX. It frames the development as a precedent for how corporate treasury strategies can intersect with mainstream equity infrastructure.
