Typhoon Bavi cancels 130+ Hong Kong flights, suspends high-speed rail
Hong Kong International Airport reported 64 inbound and 71 outbound flights cancelled on Saturday, and 10 high-speed rail services were suspended.
More than 130 flights linking Hong Kong with Taiwan, mainland China and Japan have been cancelled as Typhoon Bavi moves toward China’s east coast, according to SCMP Economy.
Hong Kong International Airport’s webpage showed 64 inbound flights and 71 outbound flights were cancelled on Saturday, with more than half of the affected routes scheduled to run between Hong Kong and Taipei.
Services between Hong Kong and Kaohsiung, Shanghai and Hangzhou were cancelled, and SCMP Economy said a handful of flights to Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya were also axed.
The disruption extended beyond air travel, with 10 high-speed rail services suspended, and Taiwanese and mainland carriers including EVA Air, China Airlines, Juneyao Air, Loong Air and China Eastern Airlines announcing cancellations.
