Ukraine urges faster allied air-defense deliveries after missile attack
The attack used six ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles, and 121 drones, and Kyiv said the shortages in air-defense munitions left it more exposed.
Russia launched a missile and drone attack on Ukraine on Saturday, killing two people and wounding 19, according to officials cited by SCMP Economy. Kyiv said the strike hit civilian infrastructure in multiple locations, including 11 wounded in the capital, Kyiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said civilian infrastructure was hit even before the air raid alert was issued, and that defenders shot down most targets but not the ballistic ones. Reuters reported that rescuers were working at the sites as Zelensky urged allies to quickly deliver air-defense support packages agreed at a NATO summit earlier this week.
SCMP Economy also said Russia used six ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles, and 121 drones, while Ukraine’s air force reported downing at least two cruise missiles and 111 drones. Later, a missile strike in Odesa killed two and wounded another, and a drone attack in Kharkiv wounded seven people by hitting a civilian enterprise.
