Ukraine’s prime minister steps down as Zelensky plans reshuffle
Zelensky said he would assign each foreign policy priority to a specific experienced official ahead of the reshuffle.
Ukraine’s prime minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, stepped down on Sunday as President Volodymyr Zelensky announced changes to Ukraine’s government, according to a report from SCMP Economy.
Zelensky said he had offered Svyrydenko a new and important position and noted that he has periodically reshuffled the government as Ukraine operates under martial law because wartime elections are prohibited.
In remarks accompanying the decision, Zelensky said each foreign policy priority would be assigned to a specific person with substantial experience, describing the impending reshuffle as a way to implement the leaders’ agreements and meet public expectations.
Svyrydenko said she remains ready to serve and to carry out tasks aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s position, defending national interests, and moving toward what she called a just peace, the report added.
