Hong Kong launches sports governance and integrity certification course
The seven-module online program runs about 18 hours of learning and began in late March, following a government review that produced a new NSA governance code.
Hong Kong has introduced a new sports governance and integrity certification course aimed at improving how National Sport Associations manage policies and conduct, according to SCMP Economy. The program is part of a broader initiative, the Sports Governance and Integrity Alliance (SGIA), a partnership formed by the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, and The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute. SCMP Economy said the SGIA was established in August 2025 and targets stronger governance and integrity management across NSAs. SCMP Economy reported that the course, formally called The Jockey Club HKCGI Sports Governance Certification Course, was shaped by a government-mandated review of how the city’s NSAs operate, which led to a new SF&OC code of governance. The code sets guidelines for leaders and officials with an emphasis on transparency, accountability, integrity, and overall efficiency. The course began in late March and is structured as a seven-module online program covering areas such as board governance and administration, membership, athlete selection, and coach and umpire management. SCMP Economy said it is delivered through video lectures and case studies, totaling about 18 hours of online learning, with a quiz at the end of each module.
