Hong Kong to pay welfare recipients up to HK$45,000 for steady work
The Community Care Fund incentive will run from Oct. 1 and provides three fixed payments over three years totaling HK$10,000, HK$15,000, and HK$20,000.
Hong Kong will offer government welfare recipients cash incentives of up to HK$45,000 over three years if they secure stable employment and move from the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance scheme to the Working Family Allowance, authorities announced Monday, according to SCMP Economy.
The program, funded by the Community Care Fund, is set to launch on Oct. 1 and targets families with working capability who can achieve self reliance through continuous employment, the government said.
Under the scheme, eligible households may receive up to three fixed payments, with HK$10,000 in the first year, HK$15,000 in the second, and HK$20,000 in the third. The incentive amount is fixed regardless of household size or the level of family allowance approved, authorities added.
To qualify for payments, households must maintain continuous employment and obtain approval for at least two consecutive WFA applications over a 12 month period, with payments granted for at least 10 of those months.
