TeraWulf leans into AI data centers with 20-year Anthropic lease

The CEO said the 20-year lease is meant to match rising demand for AI computing and reflects TeraWulf's shift away from non-core assets.

CoinDesk reports that TeraWulf is framing its move from Bitcoin mining toward AI infrastructure as it leans on a large hosting deal with Anthropic. CEO Paul Prager said the arrangement highlights how the company sees its business evolving, from a miner to an AI data center operator.

Prager said the agreement is structured as a 20-year lease and that it reflects surging demand for AI computing. He added that owning key inputs, including power, land, and operations, is central to the company’s strategy as it executes the buildout.

CoinDesk also reports that TeraWulf plans to shed non-core assets to redeploy capital into AI data centers it fully controls. The company’s CEO pointed to labor as an emerging execution challenge as AI data center development remains a multi-year effort.

Finally, Prager argued that constraints on the AI infrastructure boom are less about available land and more about power quality. He also said Bitcoin mining is no longer part of TeraWulf’s long-term strategy.
