Iran says it will keep exporting oil after U.S. waiver cancellation
Iran’s oil minister said exports will continue “without interruption” after the U.S. terminated a 60-day sanctions exemption, which he said lasted only about three weeks.
Iran will continue exporting oil despite the U.S. cancelling a waiver that had allowed Tehran to sell crude, Iran’s oil minister said Tuesday, according to OilPrice.
The Iranian Oil Ministry said it has kept in place mechanisms designed to neutralize U.S. sanctions, and the minister argued that those systems mean exports will continue at the same pace as before, even though the exemption tied to U.S. sanctions was terminated.
The minister also accused the United States of reneging on its commitments, citing what he described as a violation of the agreement governing the waivers.
OilPrice said the episode is playing out amid renewed tensions in the region, including attacks on tankers, U.S. strikes, and the U.S. reinstating a naval blockade aimed at stopping Iranian oil exports.
