White House crypto adviser Patrick Witt to take military training leave
Witt is set to finish his work on July 24, while the CLARITY Act faces a Senate window before the Aug. 8 recess, with his deputy expected to cover negotiations.
White House crypto adviser Patrick Witt, a pointman for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, will take a leave of absence at the end of July to undergo several months of military training, according to Crypto In America via Cointelegraph.
The outlet said Witt is expected to wrap up his work on July 24 before reporting for Judge Advocate General training with the Georgia Army National Guard, which would qualify him to serve as a legal officer in the Guard.
Cointelegraph also reported that Witts departure is occurring as lawmakers pursue a narrow timeline for the CLARITY Act, with the bill needing Senate action before the Aug. 8 recess.
Witt has been involved in negotiations between crypto and banking industry representatives on parts of the proposal, including stablecoin yield and disputes tied to ethics provisions, and his deputy, Harry Jung, is expected to assume his responsibilities while Witt remains involved during training.
