EasyJet passengers stranded on tarmac after diversion due to refueling gap

The diversion led to passengers disembarking after 03:00 at Stansted, with EasyJet advising reimbursement for onward travel.

BBC Business reports passengers on a diverted EasyJet flight were left stuck on the tarmac for more than two hours after the aircraft could not refuel at Stansted Airport.

The outlet says the diversion followed a separate incident at Gatwick involving a British Airways plane temporarily blocking the runway, and after the EasyJet plane landed at Stansted it faced a shortage of ground handling staff.

EasyJet said passengers could only disembark after 03:00, and it apologized for the disruption tied to the diversion and the delay in disembarking.

BBC Business adds that passengers were told to arrange onward travel with limited late hour public transport options and were advised they would be reimbursed, while at least some baggage delays required additional waiting.
