Home price growth slows, easing affordability pressures at the margin
MarketWatch says home prices are rising much more slowly than during the pandemic-era buying surge, even as buyers may not feel relief yet.
Housing affordability has improved slightly in one respect, as home price growth has cooled compared with the rapid pandemic-era pace, according to MarketWatch.
The outlet links the easing in purchasing conditions to the slower rate of home price increases, even though that change has not necessarily translated into a strong sense of affordability for many buyers.
MarketWatch notes that while the market is moving in a direction that should help, the broader experience for consumers still does not match the scale of relief seen in earlier periods when prices rose less sharply.
