Iran’s IRGC threatens continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz
The IRGC said it would keep the Strait closed until the “end of America’s evils” after attacks on US logistics and fuel facilities in Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, adding further supply-route risk to oil markets.
FXStreet reports that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, the IRGC, said the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the “end of America’s evils.”
The outlet also noted the IRGC said it attacked Kuwait’s Mina Abdullah logistics and support center, targeted US military facilities at Azraq base in Jordan for a second time, and destroyed US Fifth Fleet command, fuel, and equipment facilities in Bahrain, framing the actions as a response to “hostile” US actions.
FXStreet linked the messaging to potential pressure on global oil routes, saying the IRGC warned about closure of other oil and gas export routes that serve the interests of the United States and its allies.
At the time of writing, WTI was defending minor bids around $79.5, with the move tied to how geopolitical disruptions can affect supply for the benchmark crude.
