Wholesale prices fall in June for first time in 10 months

The decline was driven largely by lower gas prices, but analysts said renewed U.S.-Iran hostilities could cloud whether inflation is actually cooling.

Wholesale prices fell in June for the first time in 10 months, a result MarketWatch linked mainly to lower gasoline prices.

Even so, the report said inflation remains too high, and it is unclear whether the recent slowdown will last given renewed U.S.-Iran hostilities.

The potential for renewed conflict to affect energy prices adds uncertainty for the durability of the June drop in wholesale inflation.
