Blockchain Association CEO says crypto market-structure ethics are negotiable

Summer Mersinger, a former CFTC commissioner, said a Senate vote on the CLARITY Act could come as soon as next week if lawmakers agree on ethics and broader bill language.

Cointelegraph reports that Summer Mersinger, CEO of the Blockchain Association and a former US Commodity Futures Trading Commission commissioner, said ethics should not derail progress on proposed US crypto market-structure legislation.

Speaking at the Injective Summit in Washington, DC, Mersinger said lawmakers are “very close” on the main language of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, with remaining issues focused on “a few little nits,” including ethics.

He added that a Senate vote could arrive as early as next week, depending on whether an agreement on ethics can be reached after a meeting at the White House involving Republican senators.

Cointelegraph also notes that the discussion comes after reports that President Donald Trump would raise CLARITY with a group of Republican senators and after Trump disclosed in June that he earned $1.4 billion from digital-asset related ventures, including memecoin ties and World Liberty Financial.
